| The Kalakian (Lit; Water Buffalo) APC is a locally built armored vehicle produced by Steel Craft Industries in the Phillipines.
20 were ordered from the manufacturer by the Philippine Army. It is roughly based on the Simba armored vehicle but is slightly larger and incorporates some changes to
reflect the army's experience with the Simba. Due to its small size, the .50 cal Simba turret was limited in the amount of firepower it could be adapted to carry and the
kalakian has a larger turret armed with one 40mm AGL, one 7.62mm mg and one .50 cal mg. It also has larger doors on both sides of the hull and a single door on the hull rear
and can accomodate 12 passengers.
It is powered with a Cummins 6-cylinder 250hp In-Line diesel engine with an Allison 4x4 transmission. The fuel tank capacity is 300 liters. Fully loaded
with armaments and ammunition the vehicle weighs 10,582 Kgs. The hull is made of imported 12mm thick armor plating, the same thickness as that of
the Simba AFV. It can travel at up to 100kph.
To suit local tactical needs the vehicles have two side doors and one rear door. It can accommodate up to twelve passengers.
