| In 1989 the Bundeswehr tested the Zobel and the VBL - The Zobel was better but it never entered service as it was too expensive. The only example is in a museum at Koblenz.

- Four-wheel vehicle with adjustable height suspension.
- Low flat bonnet with large central engine access hatch extending full length of bonnet.
- Two seperate windscreens with single bottom-hinged armoured cover.
- Doors in each side and rear with rounded corners and single armoured glass viewport.
- Shrouded propellors visible behind bumper inboard of headlights.
- Roof hatches located front right and rear left on roof.
