The C. L. Best Tractor Company of San Leandro, California built a tiny cable-controlled demolition tracklayer designed by E E Wickersham and known as
the Wickersham Land Torpedo. It pre-dated the German 'Goliath' of World War II by almost 25 years.
The device itself was powered by internal batteries and had a rear spool for its control cable. Four spoked wheels supported the body containing the
central motor, rear drive and batteries.
