HIGH HERMAN

SERIES OF MINE-ROLLER DEVICES

Mounted on M46

After World War Two the introduction of more powerful tanks in the american arsenal sparked a renewed interest in mine roller devices. High Herman, which was basically an updated WW2 mine roller, was introduced. It featured 25 cast steel spoked discs weighing around 1-ton each which, combined with the weight of the mounting, weighed nearly 36-tons. The weight placed a considerable strain on the running gear of the tank even though High herman was quite durable and capable of withstanding numerous anti-tank mine explosions.
