Using an M4A4 medium tank as a basis, the Lamson Company of Syracuse, New York produced this boom-type flail tank with its auxiliary engine
mounted on the rhs of the vehicle hull. The auxiliary engine powered the flail mechanism by means of a drive shaft rotating at 75 - 90 rpm and the flails
could be rotated in either direction.
The equipment, however, proved to be easily damaged by mine explosions and suffered from lack of power when heavier, more durable, flail chains
were fitted.
