On Tuesday, November 22 2005, the Argentine Army General Staff presented the new 'Patagon' tank, a cheap version of Sk-105 buit from new Sk-105 made in Austria and
assambled in Argentina by the Equipment and Logistic Command. The 40 vehicles series was built in the Logistic Base at Comodoro Rivadavia, in the Chubut province. The
Patagón consists of a new Sk-105 chassis and a rebuilt turret and gun from obsolete AMX-103/105. It is a cheap solution to replace the AMX-13 and in a future they maybe fitted
with a thermal camera and the FCS fitted in the new SK-105A2 AR. This is not a no good solution for the Army, but it needs to maintain a certain number of tanks in service.
