FBM

MINE, ANTI-TANK, BLAST, METAL

The FBM [Lit; Fu***ng Big Mine] was named by the EOD technicians who discovered it. This mine has been encountered without the fuze; Instead, a Romanian MAI-75 anti-personnel mine has been used to initiate this mine and only a load of 5 to 25 kg is required to initiate it. It has a circular body with a raised pressure plate. The pressure plate is connected to the mine body with a circular crimp on the top limp of the body side-wall. The pressure plate convexly contours up from the crimp and plateaus. There is a central threaded fuze well that accepts a fuze that functions in the same manner as the Romanian P-62 (used in the MAT-76) with an arming button on the top and a mechanical pressure-operated mechanism incorporating a spring-loaded striker. Beneath the fuze is a large booster set into the main charge. There is an air void between the explosive and the pressure plate.
