| The XE-SLED program was designed to produce vehicles which were expendable. They would be used to transport troops or cargo through marginal terrain and then be
abandoned, if neccessary, once the mission was accomplished.
One of the rquirements appeares to have been that the vehicles used the standard M274 Mule drive-train. This used a military standard Model 4A084 4-cyclinder engine which
developed 45hp at 3,300rpm.
