| This machine gun is the QJY-88, with the same 5.8mm calibre of the Type 95 assault rifle it is an automatic, recoil operated, belt-fed, crew served machine gun to be used in the
infantry battalion and company as a main suppressing weapon. The effective range of the weapon is about 1km. The machine gun is fitted with optical sight with night vision
input.
The QJY-88 is intended to repalce the 12.7mm and 7.62mm heavy machine guns currently in service in the PLA.
