| The automatic grenade launcher (LAG) was designed and constructed by Santa Barbara in 1983. There was an I+D agreement between ENSB (Spain) and
FNB (Belgium) to develop and produce this 40mm grenade launcher. SB made the weapon and FNB were to produce the ammo but FNB was sold to the
French GIAT and ENSB went on alone with the program.
It is a flat-trajectory direct-fire weapon with the ability to fire single shots or bursts. It is a complementary weapon to heavy machine guns and fires an
antipersonnel round. It can be used from a gun carriage, from light and armored vehicles, helicopters and boats.
