All Cromwell marks could have a further identifier added to their designation to denote various differences from the standard production vehicles. These included;
    C - Fitted with Valentine final drive
    D - Fitted with hull gunners hatch
    E - Fitted with lower final drive gear ratio
    F - Fitted with drivers hatch
