| The OF-40, aka Leopardino or Lion, is based on the Leopard 1A3 and development started in 1977. The first prototype was ready in 1980 and one year later, the UAE ordered 36
vehicles of the basic type, OF-40 Mark 1, and 3 OF-40 ARV recovery variants. There's also an improved model, the Mark 2, equipped with the OG14L2A FCS with LLLTV,
stabilised commander's sight and LRF. Some sources state that many if not all Mk1's were upgraded to Mk 2 standard.
