| The Haflinger is a light multi-purpose 4x4 cross-country vehicle developed and produced by Steyr-Daimler-Puch at Graz in Austria. It is air-transportable.
The chassis is of a central tubular backbone construction with the engine mounted at the rear. The wheels are all independantly sprung on swing-type axles incorporating
step-down final drive cases which provide very good ground clearance. A differential locking system is provided as standard.
Optional equipment includes a winch, tropical equipment, snow ploughs, welding equipment etc. Originally am extra-low crawler gear was provided until the switch was made
from the 4F1R gearbox to the more modern 5F1R gearbox in 1966.
The Series I was built in the early 1960's and has a 4-speed gearbox with a crawler gear. The Series II was built after 1966, has a 5-speed gearbox and the position of the petrol
tank was changed. Some of the Series II's have doors.
