| The UAZ-69 jeep was the replacement for the wartime GAZ-69B and the american leand-lease jeeps. It was originally produced at the Gorkiy Autmobile
Plant from 1952 - 1956 and refered to as the GAZ-69. In 1956 production was shifted to the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant.
The UAZ-69 is a light cargo and personnel carrier, sometimes used as a prime mover for light weapons in airborne units as well as a communications
vehicle. Some of its components are also used in the UAZ-450 series. It is also used as the basis for a number of specialist vehicles.
Due to the delays in developing its successor a number of improvements were made to the vehicle resulting in the models UAZ-69-68 and UAZ-69A-68.
