| The Unimog [lit; Universal Motor Gerat or Universal Power Plant] was first conceived in 1946 by Herr Friedrich of Daimler-Benz as a compact 4x4
multi-purpose vehicle for agricultural and industrial use. It made its debut in 1948 after production was taken over by Gebr. Boeringer in Goppingen as
Daimler-Benz did not have the production facilities available. In 1951 production and further development were transferred to the Gaggenau plant of
Daimler-Benz and the vehicle has since been produced with a wide variety of body types, accessories and special equipment.
